About your trip

GROUP TOUR - AUGUST 26th to AUGUST 31st 2026

This 5-night Jaguar Safari is a 6-day group journey, shared with other Journey with Jaguars guests. Together you’ll spend FOUR (4) full days on the rivers of the Pantanal — the best place on earth to see wild jaguars. The first and last days are dedicated to traveling the Transpantaneira to and from the lodge, while the middle four are spent entirely on the water. From dawn to dusk, our expert guides and boat drivers track jaguars through their natural domain, with giant otters, caimans, and hundreds of bird species bringing the waterways to life. Evenings are for unwinding at the lodge and recharging for another day on the river.

Our guests have ranked us among the top 10% of tours worldwide on TripAdvisor. Read their reviews HERE!

Arrival & Transfer to Jaguar Territory

Upon landing at Cuiabá International Airport, you’ll be met by your English-speaking guide and a member of our transport team and begin your journey into the heart of the Pantanal.

For those arriving the day before (August 25th), we recommend spending the night at a hotel in Cuiabá close to the airport like Amazon Hotel Aeroporto. The next morning, we’ll pick you up directly from your hotel to join the group transfer.

For those flying in on the morning of the tour (August 26th), please ensure your flight arrives no later than 10:45 AM. Most flights from São Paulo and other hubs arrive between 9:15–10:45 AM, which fits perfectly with our planned departure.

At 10:00–11:00 AM, the group will depart together in a private van, heading south along the legendary Transpantaneira Highway—an adventure in itself. Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife right from the road: capybaras, caimans, storks, and more.

After approximately 6 hours (including lunch and photo stops), we’ll arrive at our partner lodge in Porto Jofre, perfectly positioned at the gateway to prime jaguar territory.

You’ll be welcomed and shown to your room—comfortable, air-conditioned, and equipped with a private bathroom. After settling in, we’ll enjoy a hearty dinner, review the plan for the days ahead, and get a good night’s rest before hitting the river at dawn.

Important notes for group travel:

  • All guests must travel together in the shared van transfer.

  • Arrival flights must land by 10:45 AM latest on August 26th.

  • Departure flights must be booked for 4:00 PM or later on the final day, as the group will return together.

  • Guests who book outside these times will need to arrange and pay for private transport separately.

Days 2, 3, 4 & 5

Jaguar Tracking on the River (August 27, 28, 29 & 30)

Wake up to the sounds of the Pantanal and fuel up with a buffet breakfast from 6:00 AM — fresh fruits, breads, spreads, eggs, coffee, juice, and tea.

By 6:30 AM, you’ll board your private safari boat just as the sun rises over the river. This is prime jaguar territory, and our expert guides and boat drivers know exactly where to search.

No two mornings are the same in the Pantanal. One day it’s a jaguar stalking along the bank, the next a giant otter family playing in the current. That sense of wild unpredictability is what makes every outing so electrifying.

Lunch is delivered fresh to the boat so you can stay on the river all day, maximizing your chances of sightings without missing a moment.

As the sun sets, we cruise back to the lodge for a relaxing buffet dinner — with options including meats, fish, salads, rice, and beans. Then it’s time to rest and recharge for another full day on the water.

Included on board:
– Ice-cold water and soft drinks (always complimentary)
– Beer available on request at a small additional charge
– A large cooler stocked for the day
– Shade canopy and comfortable seating

Dietary preferences can be noted at checkout.

Return to Cuiabá

Enjoy a final breakfast at the lodge, surrounded by the sounds of the Pantanal one last time.

Afterwards, our private transport team will drive you back to Cuiabá International Airport for your onward journey. The drive offers more chances to spot wildlife along the Transpantaneira, so keep your camera ready — you never know what might cross the road.

You’ll arrive at the airport with plenty of time for your flight, feeling fulfilled, inspired, and just a little bit wilder than when you arrived.

*We recommend booking onward flights from 3:00 PM onwards to allow for a relaxed transfer back to Cuiabá without any rush.

About your organizer

At Journey with Jaguars, we don’t run tours. We lead deep journeys into the wild, where jaguars still roam free, and time slows down enough for you to feel the rhythm of the Earth again. We believe people are starving for something real— a visceral encounter with the living world. Something humbling. Something raw. Our private, tailor-made safaris are built for adventurers, photographers, and nature lovers who come to track jaguars in their natural habitat, guided by those who know this land like home.
